Guest Post at The Creative Connection

I had a lot of fun writing a guest post over at Creative Connection about what creativity means to me. Here is a snippet...

I always have looked at the world differently than a lot of people. When I see brown leaves blowing in the wind across the pavement, I do not see mere leaves, I see autumn fairies dancing and playing about. Walking the beach I will find a shell slanted just so that it reminds me of the folds of my favourite skirt. At the coffee shop, I see a stranger sitting alone, and I, without thinking, create an entire life for him in my head. By the time I am heading out of the door with my drink I have named his family-run bakery, decorated his house, and shared his secrets.

This Weeks Journaling: Portland (again)

One last Portland journaling post! Here is a spread in my stitched journal I worked on this week. I took photos of it before I did the main lettering so you can see a little bit of my process.

The ACE hotel photo I cut and pasted each half on either side of the journal spread, And the photo booth strip we took while we were there. I used a vintage postcard of one of the places we visited as a subpage. I was lucky to find it in an antique shop while I was there:

The other side of the subpage has a photo - Michelle, Cassondra, Kari, Me, Natalie and Lonnie (who I had to cut and paste in). Also some other photo booth photos, including one of Michelle and Jill. I regret to say that I have no photo of Andrea, who I meet there along with Jill and really enjoyed her company.

Here are the same spreads all finished with some lettering and color. The overall spread is a little darker than my usual spreads don't you think? I think the photos and stuff I used made it so:

One thing that is great about journaling is getting to relive a wonderful trip like this when working on the pages once I get home.

I have been so bad lately about sharing the design projects I have been working on... Here is a recent logo project I just finished up working with Tiffany from Shabby Scraps - now - The Fancy Farm Girl. She hired me to create a logo for her blosmming photography business - and I was happy to oblige. It is so great working with someone and creating with them something that truly reflects their style.

Here is what we came up with, a color version, a black and white version, and a smaller black and white version:
