Project Updates

I have been working on some fun projects — here are two of my latest...

Heather Bullard contacted me wanting to work on simplifying her blog and website's look. I was thrilled to work on such a clean, streamlined design. As much as I love, and am known for, vintage style designs (see the next design I have to share below), I really enjoy working on clean, crisp sites as well - and I love what we came up with, Heather, as we all know, has an amazing eye so it wonderful getting to work with her. Here is a peek of her blog that we just made live:

Michelle Geller is opening a shop (just wait until you see what she has in store for us!!), so she contacted me to create a site and blog to match. All the beautiful lettering and doodles are Michelle's own that I scanned and manipulated for the site. What a fun project to work on! I really love how Michelle's fun.and creative style shines through. Peep.

As you can tell from both projects, I really like to work closely with each client - a perfect design is one that both of us work on - I love being able to bounce ideas back and forth and come up with something that really captures the spirit of the person (or company).

Coppola Winery

This Thursday it was my turn to host the weekly 'big brother' night for the girls in the neighborhood (I am actually surprised they let me participate since I am not familar with the show then spend the entire time asking questions which I am sure drive them insane), and I stopped at the store to pick up some wine... I went with my favourite - Champagne (or rather, since it is made in California, sparkling wine).

I have been wanting to try the Sofia Coppola rose - but they only had the blanc - even still, the great packaging called to me. When I got home I decided to look at the Francis Ford Coppola winery website - and it is wonderful. The texture, colours, fonts, imagery - all of it I just loved it all and how well it was put together - and I just had to share it with you...

They even have a "goes well with..." guide that has the most darling illustrations (remind you of anything else I love?) - I have no idea who they are by, but would love to know! I am thinking about tweeting them and asking - do you think they will let me know?

San Diego Souvenir Journal

San Diego Holiday Recap

San Diego was wonderful. The weather alone had me half in love with the city when we first walked out of the airport.

I got to spend a full wonderful day with Leanne - we went to Paper Tales (love!) and shopped, had some lunch, then went back to Paper Tales and journaled at their back table. Helle (with me in the photo below) was so sweet and so welcoming - I hope to get back there someday soon!

The next day Gina and her sweet daughter, Anna picked me up at the hotel... we hit an art store first to get some markers...

then off to Vignettes for some shopping - Leanne meet up with us there too. I found some wonderful treasures...

An antique illustrated french song book that had my heart leap at the sight of it:

A very old french cahier notebook with amazing paper inside (all blank - which is what I wanted!) - outside cover is shown above but here is a peek at the inside:

And an antique gold plated and diamond ring that sung to me from afar and fit perfectly when I tried it on...

We had lunch on the beach - stuck our feet in the ocean, went to the design district (where I fell in love with Solo).

One afternoon Mike and I took the ferry over to Coronado island and rented bicycles to ride around, we visited the Hotel Del Coronado which was beautiful.

We also spent our first full day there at Balboa Park, walking and taking photos. Then had dinner at The Prado and headed to the Old Globe complex's outdoor stage for a performance of King Lear which was pretty amazing.

We had dinner drinks in the Gas Lamp quarter, dinner in Little Italy - so much good food and fun! It was a great trip. I just need to add some photos to my travel journal and will then share it with you!
