I wanted to show you my Seattle Souvenir journal just as it was when I arrived home, so you can see how much I actually do in the moment (well, the in the quiet moments between the exciting moments). Now all I need to do is add a couple a photos and finish up the last page.
This journal ended up with lots of subpages and fold outs, so there are a lot of pictures and notes below:
The entire journal was made from envelopes (see THIS POST for more details) and the I used two Instax Mini Camera photos in the window of the cover.
On the first page, I used part of the sticker from my luggage, and did some lettering:
In the envelope is a piece of old text paper that I used to document my first day - you can see in the bottom right where I drew an box and wrote "Photo here":
This is the next spread with everything "closed":
And here is everything opened up, the business card from lunch, and part of the paper I was working on while painting. I loved how it had all my colors on it, so I tore a bit off for my journal:
In the top-loading envelope I stashed some cards of fellow classmates, and a photo of me and Mary Bailey, who has taken some of my online classes and introduced herself to me:
Stacie took me to Dick's, a Seattle staple, and I used images from the bag our food came in and taped them in here, and on the other side are photos taken at a digital photobooth in a shop in the Capital Hill area:
On this side is a spread with a photo, cut out of page and sticker (with the bad word blurred out) from Cupcake Royale - yum! On the right, a photo from class, and...
Another envelope sleeve filled with a page...
This time a piece of stationery Stacie purchased, with a sampling of all the fun pens I purchased at the Kinokunyia Bookstore:
Next spread - Dinner at Poquitos (delicious!) where I snagged a paper menu and cut out the dishes we shared. Also we hit the Elliott Bay Book Company.
This spread has miscellaneous things on it, including the price stickers from some vintage rulers I purchased at the flea market we went to.
Here are some cards from shops, and a replica vintage postcard of the area:
Some shops we went to, and the receipt from Walgreens, where we purchased candy before heading to a drive-in movie:
Here is the last page - still needs to be colored and have final events added:
The last envelope is being used as storage until I am done with the journal:
And here is the back and front laid out:
Fun journal to make - I will definitely be using this envelope technique again in the future!
There are still a few days left in the current giveaway...
i love this post...i think this might be my favourite of your travel journals. it is a beauty.

I just got done creating a travel journal about my recent trip to NYC. I also used envelopes, which I really liked because it made it so easy to collect things along the way.
As always, your ideas and journals inspire me! Thanks for sharing with us! :)
