You may remember the iphone case I made myself back in September, 2010 (shown below). I made it at Uncommon, and I have made a few cases there since then. However over the holidays at the end of last year, I made one for a friend and when it came I noticed they now make them with black rims around the edges, and I did not care for that.
So when I wanted to make a new case (shown below), I decided to try out Case-mate, and I was pleased with the result. I have gotten a lot of compliments and inquires on my case so I wanted to share with you how to make your own.

First, I decided to go with the Barely-there case Case-mate offers. It is nice and slim and fits my phone perfectly. They have such an easy interface, you really need to only upload the photo you wish to use and move it around to where you like how it looks.
I don't think many people know that the bathing beauties image I used (a several similar photographs) is available for anyone to download from the Library of Congress. You know the one - it is long and skinny with all the beauty pageant contestants lined up. I love the image!
Anyway, here is a link to download it: Bathing Beauties Image
I downloaded the .TIFF version and them made it into a high res .JPG to make the case. I chose the section I liked the best to have on the case.
Lastly, I took a chance and looked at RetailMeNot.com for a case-mate.com coupon code and found one (yay!) - for $7 off. So if you plan on ordering - check there first to see if there is an active coupon for you to use as well.
Happy case making!

Thank you for this great idea!!
