When trying to come up with my class for Handmade U this fall, I tried to think about what my strengths as a journaler are. I came up with 2 things I thought would be best to revolve my class around. This post will discuss the first one, and I will share the second part (hint: prompts and actual journaling) once I have gotten the class samples done.
I decided that working with old paper was one thing that I get asked a lot about and would have fun showing techniques for... and this is what I came up with for making the actual journal.
The journals we will be making in class will be from mostly vintage elements. The lady on the cover is an original from the 1800's. I was able to collect enough for everyone in the class to have their own original lady to use themselves so I can walk them through how I work with them, and create fun interactive covers. I also decided to provide copies of the originals I used in case people want to make theirs look like mine.

I decided it would be interesting to teach the class where each student can decide if they want to make a stitched or ringed journals, I have different techniques for each that I will share with everyone. Above is the stitched version, and below the ringed the version.

That is all of the peek I have for you now - but I promise to show you the other bit I plan to teach soon!
If you are interested in joining us in the fall when I teach this class at Handmade U - visit HERE for more information, I would love to see you there!
