The other night I was in my studio wanting to journal - but it had been a long day and I was not in the mood to think too much about what I was creating. I find this happens every now and then, and I use these times to create some Journal Snips (as I like to call them).
A Journal Snip by definition (in my mind) is a little bit made to use in a journal at a later date. I usually put them aside and pull them out when I am looking for something to add to a spread.
I thought it would be fun to show you some I have made recently. The photo below shows various Journal Snips. As you can see various materials are used - vintage dennison labels, old photos, tintype frames, security envelopes, and magazine clippings (the one second to the left on the top is made from an image I found in Selvedge magazine ages ago, it is by Rachel Howard, and the bottom right is from an used Laura Stoddart book I purchased just to cut up). Just about anything goes!
I had picked one Journal Snip give away to a reader, but then thought that was a lame giveaway, so I decided to pick one and make one. So below is what I decided to offer up today as a giveaway:
On the page I made, the winner can choose to have me hand-letter a quote or phrase of their choosing inside the frame, or leave it blank. This Journal Snip is backed by double-sided tape all ready to paste into a journal. It is made from a vintage photo frame (the large one), A girl from an 1800's fashion magazine, a vintage dennison label, and a small photo frame (that is not vintage) and some moleskine paper.

The giveaway has ended - thanks for your comments and look for more giveaways soon!
* You can enter this giveaway for the two journal snips by doing the following:
Go to the Souvenir Lifestyle website to view the free preview of Summer Issue of the magazine - then come back to leave a comment telling me which story from the Table of Contents sounds the most appealing to you.
Giveaway runs from now until July 18th, 2011 Midnight EST. Please be sure to add your blog and/or email when you comment to be entered.
A random winner will be picked on July 19th, 2011- and winners announced shortly after. Good luck!

Many of the article titles caught my eye but I think the winner is: An Inspired Home. I was born outside of Paris and always seem to gravitate to articles about France or French style. Thanks for the opportunity to win a couple of your "snips". Should I be a lucky winner (hoping!) I am at bkisrael@gmail.com.

I think so many of them sound wonderful, but especially the article "a day in the life" I have always loved reading about other peoples daily routines, it's almost an obsession, I'm always so inspired by artist's routines. I also love the one about "Bellochio" I have seen that shop featured in Victoria magazine and it looks like such an inspirational shop. THANKS for the chance to win one of your journaling bits!
