Journal Snips (+ Giveaway)

The other night I was in my studio wanting to journal - but it had been a long day and I was not in the mood to think too much about what I was creating. I find this happens every now and then, and I use these times to create some Journal Snips (as I like to call them).

A Journal Snip by definition (in my mind) is a little bit made to use in a journal at a later date. I usually put them aside and pull them out when I am looking for something to add to a spread.

 I thought it would be fun to show you some I have made recently. The photo below shows various Journal Snips. As you can see various materials are used - vintage dennison labels, old photos, tintype frames, security envelopes, and magazine clippings (the one second to the left on the top is made from an image I found in Selvedge magazine ages ago, it is by Rachel Howard, and the bottom right is from an used Laura Stoddart book I purchased just to cut up). Just about anything goes!

I had picked one Journal Snip give away to a reader, but then thought that was a lame giveaway, so I decided to pick one and make one. So below is what I decided to offer up today as a giveaway:

On the page I made, the winner can choose to have me hand-letter a quote or phrase of their choosing inside the frame, or leave it blank. This Journal Snip is backed by double-sided tape all ready to paste into a journal. It is made from a vintage photo frame (the large one), A girl from an 1800's fashion magazine, a vintage dennison label, and a small photo frame (that is not vintage) and some moleskine paper.

I recently had a chance to create a site for Jamie of Live Love Lather. She makes amazing soaps, candles and diffusers...

Jamie has generously offered up one of her Antique Flower Handmade Soap Jars as a giveaway this week (giveaway ended 12/26/2011).

This jar (approximately 5" tall and 3 1/2" wide) is filled with 1" X 1" pieces of our organic soap in the following signature scents: lavender with flowers, orange cinnamon with olive mud and grapefruit lemongrass with oatmeal.

Giveaway: Embellished Topiary + Courage Print

Hearts for Helen Embellished Topiary

I finished a website and blog for Hearts for Helen last month - take a peek at the treasures that can be found there by clicking HERE. Kathy, the owner, kindly donated the following treasure for me to offer you.

I love boxwood topiary, and this giveaway is adorable. It is a whimsical one of a kind preserved boxwood single topiary (approx 6 inches tall) embellished with old lace and Swarovski crystals, grouted in white and stamped "Paris". A handmade Whimsy Bird Stick is included as well, adding to the charm. One winner will receive the topiary shown below (doesn't it look cute on my desk?)

Paper Relics Silhouette Courage Print

The second item is a silhouette print I made (shown above) of an image I made to use in my journal last spring (shown below). I had some requests for prints, and I had this one left over. It measures 8 1/2 by 11 inches and is on a nice creamy, shimmery card stock ready to be framed.
